The organization has several publications in prestigious peer reviewed medical journals. For its initial evidence-based work (2005-08), Ekjut won the ‘Trial of the Year’ Award 11 (as an extraordinary cluster randomized controlled trial, conducted with high quality in a very difficult setting, and achieving dramatic results of great public health importance) in 2011 from the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT. The approach of community capacity building through Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) was endorsed by WHO in 2014 with its global recommendation and we received the ‘Public Health Champion’ Award from World Health Organization, India in 2015. Recently our work in community mental health got recognized by the Forum for Medical Ethics Society India and Indian Journal of Medical Ethics (FMES-IJME) Award 2022-23 for outstanding contribution to ethical practices and improving access to mental healthcare for marginalized communities. Our colleague Ms. Sumitra Gagrai who belongs to the Adivasi Ho community leading the community mental health team at Ekjut, won the Woman Exemplar Award 2020 from the Confederation of Indian Industries Foundation (CIIF).
